GYNAECOMASTIA AND ITS HOMEOPATHIC MEDICINES

Gynecomastia is a condition of overdevelopment or enlargement of the breast tissue in men or boys. The breasts become larger. They may grow unevenly.Male breast tissue swells due to reduced male hormone (testosterone) or increased female hormone (oestrogen).

Gynecomastia often happens when a preteen or teenage boy is going through the hormonal changes of puberty. 

Gynecomastia can be a side effect of certain medicines, such as antidepressants, antibiotics, chemotherapy, prostate cancer medicines, ulcer or cardiovascular medicines. Illegal drugs, such as anabolic steroids, heroin, or marijuana can also cause gynecomastia.

Gynecomastia  may have in one or both breasts. It may start as a lump or fatty tissue beneath the nipple, which may be sore. The breasts often get larger unevenly. Discharge from the nipple of one or both breasts. painful or tender breast . There is swelling of breast

Some investigations to rule out gynecomastia :- 

Blood tests including liver function tests and hormonal studies

Urine tests

A low-dose X-ray of your breast (mammogram)

A small breast tissue sample (a biopsy) may be removed and checked for cancer cells

HOMEOPATHIC MEDICINES - 

BARYTA CARB - In old age gynecomastea Patients with timid,cowardly, shy of strangers, and is not very confident.

CONIUM -  It effects breast tissues either one or both mammary glands with hardness and induration of gland. useful in breast pain and inflammation and for prominent nipples having milky,sticky discharge from the breast. Very useful for those patient suffering from emotional disturbance, severe embarrassment, anxiety, and also useful when gynecomastia is the result of testicular swelling.

CALCAREA IODATUM –Best suited in flabby and obese person, hormonal changes during puberty.gynecomastia because of thyroid disease.Useful for thyroid enlargement in males during puberty .

CALCAREA PHOS –Best suitable in person with gland enlargement, anaemic and spinal bone pain.Also useful when gynecomastia is cause due to Kline filter syndrome.

LYCOPODIUM - This medication can be used if the right breast enlargement is greater than the left. Lycopodium is an energy-giving herb. 

PHYTOLACCA - Gynecomastia with aching,soreness as well as sensitiveness in breast.It has wonderfully effected on fibrous tissue and also useful in those patients where obesity is the main cause of gynecomastia.

THYROIDINUM – Best suitable in improper functions of thyroid.There is stony hard glands of adrenal or testes.

THUJA – It helps to relieve in all glandular diseases and helps to increase testosterone level and also helpful to regulation of hormones .

TESTOSTERONE –It is useful when gynecomastia is due to low testosterone level.It help in reducing the oestrogen level in a male’s body and increasing the level of testosterone.

YOHIBINUM -It is useful when gynecomastia is due to hormonal imbalance.
